How to visit Hong Kong's tourist attractions?

We're travelling to Hong Kong and Macau on Aug. 23-27, 2011. There will be 5 of us in the group. We have some concerns on the following:

1) How can we get to Disneyland from Hong Kong airport?

2) How can we get to Ocean Park from Dragon Hostel, Mongkok?

3) How can we watch the Symphony of Lights from the Ocean Park?

4) From the Symphony of Lights, how can we get to Ritz Carlton Hotel?

5) What itinerary can you suggest for a one day trip in Macau?

6) How can we get to Ngong Ping 360 from Dragon Hostel? Then from there how can we get to Victoria Peak? After Victoria peak how can we get to the airport?

7) Can you share any useful information and tips for a more pleasant and enjoyable experience in Hong Kong?

Thanks a lot.

HK-Macau Tour
by: Laine

hi! i would just like to thank HKinsider Don for the prompt reply to my queries. it was really a great help to us during our HK & Macau tour last Aug. 23 to 27. generally, it was a wonderful experience for us, though, i feel we should have stayed longer for there are a still a lot of things to see and do in Hong Kong and Macau. hope to visit HK and Macau again.

6) Getting to Ngong Ping 360 from Dragon Hostel. Get into the Mong Kok MTR train --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train to Lai King station --> interchange to the Tung Chung Line train to Tung Chung station (32 minutes @ HK$14.1) --> 4 minutes walk to the NP 360 cable car terminal --> take cable car to Ngong Ping (25 minutes @ HK$115 round trip ticket).

Getting from Ngong Ping to the Peak. Take the cable car back to Tung Chung NP 360 terminal --> get into the Tung Chung MTR station --> Tung Chung Line train all the way to Hong Kong station Exit A1 or E2 (29 minutes @ HK$18.8) --> taxi to the Peak Tram Lower terminal (less than 10 minutes @ HK$25) --> take the Peak Tram to the Peak (7 minutes @ HK$40 round trip ticket).

Getting from Victoria Peak to HK airport. Take the Peak Tram back to Lower terminal --> taxi to Hong Kong station --> get into the Hong Kong MTR station --> take the Airport Express straight to Airport station (24 minutes @ HK$100).

7) Some tips. Purchase an octopus card upon arrival at HKIA. Not only that you can save a lot of time when taking the trains or any public transportation when touring around HK but also, it will give you some discount on fares.

For item no.6, actually you can do it in reverse order such like: Dragon hostel --> the Peak --> Tung Chung NP 360 cable car --> NP 360 attractions --> back to Tung Chung and shopping at Citygate Outlets --> taxi to HK airport (10 minutes @ HK$45).

1) Please click here to read getting there options from HK airport to HK Disneyland.

2) Dragon Hostel Hong Kong is rated 3-star hostel conveniently located at Room 707, 7/F, 83 Argyle Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Just block away from the Mong Kok MTR station Exit D2.

Here's how to get to Ocean Park from Dragon Hostel Hong Kong. Get into the Mong Kok MTR train --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train to Admiralty station Exit B (10 minutes @ HK$9.9) --> take the bus CTB 629 to Ocean Park entrance (25 minutes @ HK$10.6).

3) From Ocean Park, take the bus 629 back to Admiralty station --> get into the Admiralty MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train to Tsim Sha Tsui Exit F (5 minutes train ride @ HK$8.1 + 5 mins walk to the exit) --> walk 5 minutes to the TST promenade for a vantage location to watch the Symphony of Lights.

4) The Ritz Carlton Hotel Austin Road Hong Kong is located at 71/F, International Commerce Centre, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Very close to the Kowloon MTR station.

The fastest easiest way to get to The Ritz Carlton Hotel Austin Road Hong Kong from Symphony of Lights or TST promenade area is to take a taxi for about 8 minutes straight to the hotel @ HK$25.

The cheapest option (but this requires some long walks) is to the MTR trains. Get into the nearby TST MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train to Central station --> walk 6 minutes to the adjacent Hong Kong station --> take the Tung Chung Line train to Kowloon station Exit D2 (19 minutes @ HK$3.8).

5) Please click here to read more about getting to Macau. Upon getting at Macau Ferry Terminal, take a taxi stright to the Senado (Senate Square), the main plaza and from there, you'll find lots of nearby tourist attractions (refer to the map which you can find in link mentioned) --> finally, no visit to Macau is complete without at least one stop at a casino. For Los Vegas resort style gambling, visit the recently completed Wynn Macau, or the popular Sands Macau or Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.
