Visit to Hong Kong one night two days

by Mariam

Hi

I'll be traveling alone to Hong Kong and will be there for one night and two days. I arrive at Hong Kong airport at about 10.30 am and my hotel is at Kowloon.

In the two days I am there I had earlier intended to see the Ocean Theme Park (half day), Madame Tussauds, Victoria Peak and on Day 2 Ngong Ping.

But now I understand that Ngong Ping is closer to the international airport and I would like to ideally travel straight there on the first day of my arrival. But then I'll have my luggage with me. Is there any place where I could keep my luggage and then after seeing The Ngong Pong travel back to my hotel?

I am going to staying at the Metro Park hotel in Kowloon. If there is a place where I could keep my luggage and head to Ngong Ping then could you tell me the ideal transport back to my hotel in Kowloon?

Once I reach back there, I intend to check in and then take the Big Bus tour to see the Victoria Peak and avail the benefits of the bus tour of experiencing the Peak Tram and upper deck return ticket on Star Ferry and one hour night tour in Kowloon (plus a bonus Sampan Ride in Aberdeen). Also, the night bus drops off at the ladies Market, which is where close to the hotel I'll be at.

Also,do you think there would be time for a little shopping on this day? Any place other than the ladies market where I could go to after seeing the Ngong Pong?

If I cover all that on day 1 then I would like to see the Ocean theme park on Day 2 and the Space Museum, which is again close to my hotel. So if I go to the space museum at 10.00 am (first show) and then proceed to Ocean Theme park would that be good? Also, my return flight is at 7.15 from Hong Kong, so what should be the ideal time and means of transport to leave the Ocean theme park and reach the airport directly? Again, should I check out from my hotel and then head to Ocean Park? If yes, is there any place to keep the luggage there?

Since, I'm traveling alone I'm a little apprehensive and hence my post is long. I would highly appreciate if somebody could get back to me and make my trip safer & better.

Regards
Mariam

Thank you so much for all your help!

Thank you once again!

Hi Mariam,

The Big Bus departure points in Kowloon area is ideal for you such as Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade, Langham Place Mall and Hotel - Temple Street and Jade Market , Peking Road - Mody Road (Tsim Sha Tsui East) but I would recommend that you take the Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade. Getting into the TST promenade will give you a chance to visit the Avenue of Stars (about 4 minutes walk) and a glimpse at the beautiful Victoria harbour.

From your hotel, get into the Mong Kok East MTR station and take the East Rail Line train to East Tsim Sha Tsui station Exit J (9 minutes @ HK$4.6)

At Ngong Ping, I think you can get there before 12:00 noon and exploring NP until 3:30 pm is enough and then you'll be able to catch the Big Bus tour around 5:00pm.

I think there's NO need for you to take the Big Bus in your gateway to ocean park, it'll kill your time.

Anyway, in getting to Ocean Park, just proceed to nearest MTR station and take the trains that will get you into the Admiralty station to catch the bus 629 or you can also get into Central Pier for the same bus going to Ocean Park.

A quick query
by: Anonymous

Hi,

Thanks so much! I can't tell you how thankful and grateful I am to you. I'll do as advised! Just a quick query. As mentioned, in my first mail I intend to take the big bus tour on the 1st day. So after visiting Ngong Ping 360, I'll go back to my hotel as I'll have to leave my luggage there. Can you tell me the nearest point from the hotel from where I can get into the big bus?

The following are the departure points of the bus:

Central Star Ferry - HK Convention and Exhibition Centre , Causeway Bay Sogo , Causeway Bay Victoria Park , Wan Chai Computer Centre - Lower Peak Tram Terminus , Mid-Levels Escalator , Man Mo Temple - Lan Kwai Fong and Soho , Central Star Ferry Pier 7 , Ocean Park , Repulse Bay , Stanley Plaza - Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade , Langham Place Mall and Hotel - Temple Street and Jade Market , Peking Road - Mody Road (Tsim Sha Tsui East)

Would also appreciate you telling me how to travel to the nearest point. Secondly, how long will it take me to see Ngong Ping? If I go there on the 1st day as suggested then I think I should reach the place by abt 12ish. So considering, the time spent there, etc. I think I should get started on the big bus tour at about 5 or will that be late? Also, in case I can avail this, will u please tell me the nearest point from my hotel from where I can catch the same bus on the next day and travel to ocean theme park in this. As the ticket is valid for 24 hours I might as well use it if circumstances permit.

I look forward to your reply!

Regards
Mariam

Day 2 itinerary comments and suggestions:

Space Museum at TST
Opening hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday : 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday : 10:00 am - 9:00 pm

Since the Space Museum normally opens at 1:00pm on weekdays, so I afraid it will be a conflict for your Ocean Park schedule so I suggest you do it afterwards.

Or maybe if you want to visit other museum aside from space museum, then please click here to read info about it and with their respective opening hours schedule.

So your itinerary would be as follows...

Hotel --> Ocean Park --> Space Museum --> back to Hotel --> HKIA

Here's the getting there instruction from Metropark hotel to Ocean Park with tentative time table:

Take the free hotel shuttle bus to Mong Kok station --> get into the Mong Kok MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train and get off at Admiralty station Exit B (10 minutes @ HK$9.9) --> take the bus 629 straight to Ocean Park entrance (25 minutes @ HK$10.6) --> explore the park from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Getting to Space Museum from Ocean Park:

Take the bus CTB 629 back to Admiralty MTR station --> Take the Tsuen Wan Line train and get off at Tsim Sha Tsui station Exit F (5 minutes @ HK$8.1) --> walk about 3 minutes to the museum (you may stay there until 4:00pm) --> get back into the TST MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train to Mong Kok (7 minutes @ 4.6) --> 8 minutes walk to your hotel.

Getting to HK airport from Metropark Hotel Kowloon Hong Kong. I would suggest you take the Airport shuttle bus from your hotel straight to HKIA (40 minutes @ HK$100). Please inquire your hotel in advance for further details about this service. You should be at HK airport before 6:00pm.

If you opt to check out from the hotel in the morning and then go straight to Ocean Park, so getting to the Space Museum afterwards makes it NOT ideal as you are taking along your luggage. Just go straight to the airport from the park.

There are also luggage lockers at Ocean Park available for rentals, please click here for details.

For transportation between Ocean Park and HK airport, please click here for details.

Another option you can choose is to avail the "Free In-town Check-in Service" a privileges and complimentary services for Airport Express train passengers only in which you can check in your luggage in advance while still at the city provided that you take the Airport Express train from Kowloon station (@ HK$90) or at Hong Kong station (@ HK$100) later in getting to HKIA. Please verify with your airline in advance if you want this service.

Hope this help and enjoy your HK trip!

Hello Mariam,

Yes you're right. HKIA is situated at Chek Lap Kok just on the side of Lantau Island in which Ngong Ping is located but think about this, NP is like a remote place in the island that the most direct route in getting to it is the NP cable car from Tung Chung.

Tung Chung is actually a gateway to Ngong Ping.

So here's my personal route suggestion for your day 1 itinerary:

From HKIA --> taxi to Citygates Outlet at Tung Chung (10 minutes @ HK$45) --> rent and store your luggage at Citygates (click here for lockers details) --> get into the nearby NP 360 Cable Car Terminal --> take the cable car to Ngong Ping (25 minutes @ HK$115 for round trip ticket) --> explore Ngong Ping --> take the cable car back to Tung Chung --> you can opt for a quick shopping at Citygate Outlets before getting back your luggage.

Here's how to get to Metropark Hotel Kowloon Hong Kong from Tung Chung:

Metropark Hotel Kowloon Hong Kong is a 4-star hotel located at 75 Waterloo Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Tel: +852 2761 1711

Here's the location map of Metropark Hotel Kowloon Hong Kong and its nearby transportation access point.

Get into the Tung Chung MTR station --> take the Tung Chung Line train and get off at Lai King station. Interchange trains to the Tsuen Wan Line and get off at Mong Kok station Exit D3 (32 minutes @ HK$14.1) --> walk about 8 minutes to the hotel (refer to map above).

Ladies market is located very close to Metropark Hotel Kowloon Hong Kong so there's no problem getting there even late at night.

Please click here to know some of the most popular the shopping spots around Mong Kok which are a proximity to Metropark Hotel.
