Please tell me how should I plan my six days five night trip in hong kong?

by Janice Lee
(Singapore)

We are a family of two adults and two children(6&9). We will be arriving Hong Kong on 14/8/20211 at 3 pm.

I have sign up the package in Disney so I have a two days pass to the Disney theme park.

I have booked the Royal Park hotel in Mongkok and plan to stay for three night. We are thinking of going to Macau for a day trip too.

I need advise on how should I spend my time there and where to eat, transportation? What is a octopus card? I have two luggage with me.

For a family of four, is it better to take taxi for all the destination?

Here's the getting there instruction from Royal Plaza Hotel Hong Kong to the popular tourist spots in Hong Kong:

Here's my personal itinerary initial recommendation for your 6 days HK-Macau trip. Before we explore in details specially in getting there instructions to the places mentioned below, try to review and add comments if you're ok with the itinerary (day 1 to day 6).

August 14, Sun: HK airport --> Royal Park Hotel check-in --> shopping and dining at Shatin New Town Plaza.

The most efficient and economical way to get into Royal Park Hotel Hong Kong from HK airport is by taking public bus. There's NO problem with luggage in taking the bus as there are space provided only for luggage inside the bus.

Take the bus (KMB) LWB A41 from AIRPORT (GTC) BUS TERMINUS (bus stop no.1) to SHA TIN CENTRAL Bus Terminus (bus stop no.3). bus travel time is about 32 minutes @ HK$22.3. Upon getting off from the bus, take the escalator up to the Shatin New Town Plaza shopping mall and then take a short walk to the hotel.

Train option: Take the Airport Express train from Airport station and get off at Tsing Yi station. Interchange trains to Tung Chung Line and get off at Lai King station. Interchange trains to the Tsuen Wan Line and get off at Prince Edward station. Interchange trains to the Kwun Tong Line and get off at Kowloon Tong station. Finally, interchange trains to the West Rail Line and get off at Sha Tin station (51 minutes @ HK$60) and then take Exit A towards the Shatin New Town Plaza shopping mall.

Also, you can take an Urban taxi (Red color) from HK airport straight to Royal Park Hotel Hong Kong for about 40 minutes drive @ HK$225 plus luggage fee of HK$5 / pc.

OR, you can take the Hotel airport shuttle service at HK$140 per person, please inquire your hotel for more details if you want to take this option.

August 15, Mon: Royal Park Hotel --> Ngong Ping --> HK Disneyland --> back to hotel

August 16, Tue: Royal Park Hotel --> Ocean Park --> The Peak --> Avenue of Stars --> back to hotel

August 17, Wed: Royal Park Hotel --> popular museums at TST area --> Street market shopping --> back to hotel

August 18, Thu: A day in Macau. Please refer to this topic discussion "HONGKONG-MACAU TRIP (first timers) ITINERARY", click here to read more.

August 19, Fri: I'm not sure what time exactly is your departure but you can still do last minute shopping at the Shatin New Town Plaza shopping mall and take the same A41 bus to the airport.

About the Octopus Card, here's a good explanation on why it is a must when traveling around Hong Kong, please click here (go to the post dated "Jul 02, 2011" on that page).

I'm waiting for your feedback about the initial itinerary above.
