6D5N In Hongkong - Pls suggest itinerary.

by Crystal Chong
(Kuala Lumpur)

We consists of 3 adults and 2 children (35 months & 6 years old). We will be in Hong Kong from 25/01/2012-30/01/2012). We will be arriving Hong Kong on 25/01/2012 at 5.10pm. It is during Chinese New Year. Are majority of the shops/restaurants closed during that period? Is the weather very cold at night? I have overlooked on the weather when I do the booking.

I have booked the Metropark Hotel Mongkok (Lai Chi Kok Road, Mongkok, Kowloon) and plan to stay for 4 nights.

For a family of five, what is the cheapest/best way from the airport to the hotel? How much would it be? I have 3 big luggages with me.

I need advise on how should I spend my time there and where to eat & transportation? Where to get good dim-sum near to the hotel?

We would like to visit the following places. From the hotel, how do we go to:
1) The Peak
2) Avenue of Stars
3) Ocean Park
4) 'Wong Tai Sin'
5) The Buddha in Lantau Island
6) Fish Street
7) 'Yung Kee' Restaurant (32 Wellington Street, Central) for roasted goose

I'm planning to stay at the Disneyland Hotel on 29/01/2012 (last stop). Do you think the hotel will allow 5 of us in 1 room? Should we buy the 2 days theme park ticket as I'm not sure what we can do on the last day of our trip as our flight back home is 5:45pm. What is the cheapest/best way from Disneyland to airport? How long will it take? We will have big luggages by then.

Thank you

Hello Crystal :)

The major attractions will be crowded indeed but they're up and ready for that for your convenience. Also, the weather will be fine and cool so it's not much of a hassle.

Getting to Noah's Ark from Metropark Hotel Mong Kok: Take MTR trains at Mong Kok station, take the Tsuen Wan Line going to Tsuen Wan. Interchange trains at Lai King station, take the Tung Chung Line going to Tung Chung. Get off at Tsing Yi station (19mins @ HK$6.9). Take exit C and follow directional signs to the nearby Park Island shuttle bus stop then take the shuttle bus to Park Island Bus Terminus (10mins @ HK$9.5). Walk a few minutes to get to Noah's Ark resort.

I read from forums that Ocean Park will be extreamly crowded during Chinese New Year (CNY). Is it appropriate to go to Ocean Park on the 4th day of CNY with 2 small kids?

How do I go from Metropark Hotel Mongkok to Noah's Ark by MRT/bus?

Jan 28: Ngong Ping 360 then Avenue of Stars and watch the Symphony of Lights at 8pm.

Getting to the Avenue of Stars from Ngong Ping: Take MTR trains. Tung Chung--> interchange trains at Lai King-->get off at Tsim Sha Tsui station. Take exit J and walk 2 minutes, just follow directional signs.

Jan 29: Check in at Disneyland then off to Disneyland. Don't miss the "Disney in the Stars" Fireworks at 8pm.

* You may arrange with the hotel in Disneyland about sharing a room. I'm sure there's a family room available. And yes, you may secure 2-day park tickets at the hotel.

Getting to HK Airport from Disneyland: Take MTR trains/Airport Express trains. Disneyland Resort Line-->Sunny Bay station-->Tsing Yi station-->Airport station. Travel time is 35 minutes at HK$60 each.

I hope the above information will help you on this exciting trip.
