5D/4N to Hong Kong Disneyland and other tourist attraction

by Ariel Liew
(Malaysia)

Hi there,

My family and I (2 adults with 3 kids aged 12,9 and 3)(with 3 luggage bags and a baby stroller) will be travelling to HK from 20-24 October 2011.

We will be arriving at Hong Kong airport at noon on 20 October. We will have to go to Disneyland. please advise what type of transportation is suitable for us. we will be staying at the hotel in disneyland for 2 nights.

On the 22 October, after check out from the hotel in Disneyland at say 11:00am, we intend to visit Giant Buddha at Ngong Ping and Citygate Outlets, before going to Langham Place hotel in Mongkok (2 nights). Please advise type of transportation and directions to go to Giant Buddha at Ngong Ping + Citygate Outlets from Disneyland Hotel and how to handle the luggage, and thereafter type of transportation to go to Langham Place. Please advise the relevant transportation costs and time to be taken. In the evening, will visit Avenue of Stars at the Victoria Harbour. Transportation?

On the 23 October, will visit Ocean Park + Victoria Peak.

Please advise how much will it cost to take a taxi from Langham Place to Ocean Park and how long will it take? Is this the best option? Also, how much will it cost to take a taxi from the Peak to Langham Place and how long will it take?

Finally, what is the best transport from Langham Place to airport?

Do we need to purchase the Octopus Pass?

Any interesting place that we have missed out?

Thank you. Looking forward for your advice.

Taxis in Hong Kong are quite wide and the can normally carry about three suitcases of regular size (67" Length x 27.5" Width x 19.5" Height) in a baggage compartment.

5D/4N to HK
by: ariel

Dear Sir,

I have postponed my trip to next week.

I would like to know whether my 2 luggage bags with size 28" x 19" x 12" and 20" x 15" x 8" can fix into a taxi. what if I add another 20" x 15" x 8" ?

Thank you.

@ Ariel Liew,

Yes, the HK$115 NP 360 round trip ticket is for one person (adult) and half fare for children below 12 yrs. old.

The driving distance from Citygate Outlets to Langham Place Hotel is about 32km @ 36 minutes drive. That's about HK$275 taxi fare.

Here's how the taxi fare is being computed:

Taxi (red taxi) flag down for the first 2 kilometers is HK$18 plus HK$1.50 for every succeeding 200 meters.

* Urban taxis (Red) - serve all destinations throughout Hong Kong including the airport except Tung Chung Road and roads in south Lantau.

* New Territories (N.T.) taxis (Green) - serve only the New Territories and specific roads in Lantau.

* Lantau taxis (Blue) - serve all destinations in Lantau and HK airport.

Thanks Don for the reply.

Would appreciate your clarification on the following:

1) Cable car to Ngong Ping (25 minutes @HK$115) - is this for one person or for the whole family?

2) If we were to take a taxi from Citygate Outlets to Langham Place Hotel, how much will it costs? how long will it take?

Thank you.

* Getting to Ocean Park from Langham Place Hotel:
Get into the Mong Kok MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train and get off at Admiralty station Exit B (10 mins @ HK$9.9) --> take the bus CTB 629 that will bring you straight to Ocean Park entrance (25 minutes @ HK$10.6).

* Getting to The Peak from Langham Place Hotel, most efficient route would be MTR train plus taxi:
Get into the Mong Kok MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train and get off at Central station --> take a short taxi drive to the Peak Tram Lower terminal at Garden Rd., Central (7 mins @ HK$20) --> take the Peak tram up to the Peak (HK$40 - round trip ticket).

* Getting to HK airport from Langham Place Hotel:
Again, considering your group with kids and luggage, I highly recommend a taxi straight to HKIA. It will take about 40 minutes drive @ HK$350.

Please click here for other great places to visit while in HK specially travelling along with kids.

Yes, I highly suggest you purchase an Octopus card for your great convinience in touring around the city taking the public transport like trains. Please click here to know more about an Octopus card.

Hope this help and enjoy your stay in Hong Kong!

Hi Ariel Liew,

From HKIA to Disneyland, considering your group, I think it is best to take a taxi that cost around HK$110 for about 30 minutes drive.

On the 22 October, I would suggest you take a taxi from disney hotel straight to Citygate Outlets at Tung Chung (about 20 minutes drive @ HK$60) and then stow your luggage at Citygate Outlets (big size storage lockers has a dimension of 22" X 31" X 35" @ HK$20 per two hours while the small size storage lockers has a dimension of 15" X 31" X 15" @ HK$10 per two hours) --> walk to the nearby NP 360 cable car terminal --> take the cable car to Ngong Ping (25 minutes @ HK$115 - round trip ticket) --> explore Ngong Ping where you can visit the Giant Buddha.

From Ngong Ping, take the cable car back to Tung Chung --> short walk back to Citygate Outlets for shopping before getting back you luggage.

Langham Place Hotel Hong Kong is rated 5-star hotel conveniently located at 555 Shanghai Street Mongkok Kowloon, Hong Kong. Few steps away from Mong Kok MTR station Exit C3.
Tel: +852 3552 3388

* Getting to Langham Place Hotel Hong Kong from Citygate Outlets:
Get into the nearby Tung Chung MTR station --> take the Tung Chung Line train and get off at Lai King station --> interchange trains to the Tsuen Wan Line and get off at Mong Kok station then take Exit C3 (32 minutes @ HK$14.1).

* Getting to the Avenue of Stars (also to watch the Symphony of Lights show at 8:00pm) from Langham Place Hotel:
Get into the Mong Kok MTR station --> take the Tsuen Wan Line train and get off at Tsim Sha Tsui station Exit F (7 minutes HK$4.6) --> take 5 minutes walk to the TST promenade to visit the Avenue of Stars which also a vantage place to watch the Symphony of Lights show.
