Hi there,

We are planning to spend our holiday in HK Disneyland and nearby tourist spots sometime in June next year (2012).

It's gonna be me, my husband and our 2 kids. It's a promised gift to my son for his 7th birthday and to my daughter turning 4.

Can you please let me know your views - as to number of days we can totally enjoy and maximize our time and budget, and suggest other beautiful places we can go?

I'm thinking of going to below places:

-Disneyland
-Ocean Park
-The Peak
-Sky Terraces
-Madame Tussauds
-Avenue of Stars
-Victoria Harbour/Peak at Night
-Symphony of Lights
-Shopping Places

Please suggest an itinerary and hotels to check-in or if you have great packages for this tour.

Appreciate your help!

Thanks!

With the above Hong Kong tourist spots that you've mentioned, all can be done with at least 3 full days stay in HK.

Here's how to group the places to efficiently save your time and transportation cost.

Day 1: Disneyland, Victoria Harbour, and Avenue of Stars.

This is applicable if your arrival in Hong Kong will be scheduled in the morning.

Buy an octopus card upon arrival at HKIA. This electronic payment device is essential when touring around the city, not only you'll get discount on fares but also an excellent way to save time.

Actually, if your luggage would not so bulky then you can head straight to HK Disneyland (opens at 10:00 am) from the airport. Also there are luggage lockers inside at the park for rent, you can utilized them so that it'll make it easier for you and your family to explore the whole park. (Otherwise, to avoid hassle, you may check-in with your hotel first, leave your luggage there then proceed to Disneyland).

From HK Disneyland (late afternoon, say about 4:30 pm) proceed to Kowloon area to check-in with your hotel (if in-case you've not done yet).

Stay somewhere at Tsim Sha Tsui area. This is where they called it the heart of the city.

Budget and good value Hotels with in TST area and nearby:

* BP International (TST)
* Butterfly on the Prat (TST) - Brand New Hotel / Glass CRs with curtain
* Citadines Ashley (TST)
* Hotel Benito (TST) - Great location
* Bridal Teahouse (Yau Ma Tie branch) - Cheap but decent 1 star Hotel
* Evergreen Hotel (Jordan) - Another cheap but decent 2 star Hotel

Hostels: Most hostels are identical, the only reason why we recommend below is because of the location.

* Mirador Mansion (TST).
* Chunking Mansions (TST).

From your hotel, outside you can easily find a number of restaurants or fast food restaurants (such as KFC or McDonald) to choose from. Take your dinner and then proceed to the Victoria Harbour (10 - 15 minutes walking distance from Mirador Mansion) where you can visit the Avenue of Stars. Also, that place would be a perfect spot to watch the nightly show "Symphony of Lights" out from the skyscrapers at the opposite Hong Kong Island. Be sure to get there before 7:30 pm.

Day 2. Ocean Park, The Peak (Sky Terraces, Madame Tussauds). All these attractions are located in Hong Kong Island (click to see map of attractions).

Getting to Ocean Park (regularly opens at 10:00am) from Tsim Sha Tsui is quick and easy and the detailed how to get there information can be read in here.

From Ocean Park (late afternoon, say about 4:30 pm), you may proceed to the Victoria Peak. You can go straight to the Peak Tram station by taxi (about 20 minutes at HK$80) or go back to Admiralty with same bus no. 629 (about 15 minutes @ HK$10.6 / person) and then take a taxi to the Peak Tram station (about 10 minutes @ HK$25).

At the Peak, you can visit the famous Madame Tussauds and take a good HK skyline view at Sky Terraces the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong offering a stunning 360-degree panoramic view. Also, the Peak offers some good restaurants so you can have your dinner up there and you can stay there until 7 or 8 in the evening.

From the Peak, you may want to get back to your hotel and here's how:
Take the Peak Tram back to the Peak Tram terminus and adjacent to it you'll find the Peak Tram Bus Terminus. Take the Bus 15C that will bring you to the Central Ferry Pier Bus Terminus near Pier (7) and take the Star Ferry at Pier 7 going to Tsim Sha Tsui, 7 minutes - HK$ 2.50 (click here to see an interactive route map - scroll down to article dated May 07, 2010) and then take a walk to your hotel or take a short taxi drive.

Day 3. HK Museums, shopping or street market shopping.
Considering your flight will be on the night of day 3.
Morning, you can visit some of the famous museums around Tsim Sha Tsui area like the Space Museum, Museum of Art, Science Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of History.

Here's a map for the museum locations and some other places info.

View HK Museums, The Peak, Madame Tussauds, Nightlife at Lan Kwai Fong in a larger map

So after going to the museums, spare some time in the afternoon for shopping and you must also try the street market shopping which usually open during afternoon. Don't worry, just select the places that should be only a walking distance or very close to your hotel. Click the shopping links above to see the instructions in getting there.

Hope this help and you're welcome to add your comments below this thread or some more questions.

BTW, please read the following related articles from other Hong Kong visitors for your additional information before going to HK.

Travel to hk for 4d/3n
by: Anonymous

Hi.

Can you help me make itinerary for our 4d/3n trip. We'll arrive 8:45am and will head straight to disneyland where we'll be staying overnight.

Is there a place near disneyland we can visit during the night? For the next 3days, we'll be staying in Evergreen hotel Jordan. Our flight back on our 4th day is at 10pm, we still have the whole day to go around.

Also, were a group of 3 adults and 2 senior, need your suggestion if we should take taxi or train or bus in going around. Thanks.
