Suggested Itinerary for 2D Hongkong/1D Macau Trip

by Jech Escriba
(Philippines)

Hi!

My two other friends and I will go to Hongkong by June 22 - 26. Our expected time of arrival is on June 22 is at around 2200H and we'll be staying at Dragon Hostel in Argyle Street and our expected time of departure is on June 26 is at around 0800H.

We want to go to the following places but we don't know what's the best route to go to these places. Can somebody help us in planning our 2-Days Hongkong itinerary and can you please include the line of transportation, time of journey, and estimated costs?

-Disneyland
-Ocean Park
-The Peak
-Sky Terraces
-Madame Tussauds
-Avenue of Stars
-Victoria Harbour/Peak at Night
-Symphony of Lights
-Shopping Places

We're also planning to have a 1-Day City Tour at Macau. Can somebody recommend where to go, what to do, and where to eat?

THANK YOU! :)

I afraid 2-days time is so tight for touring around Disneyland and Ocean Park as these are the two major attractions in Hong Kong that requires a full day event. I suggest that you choose at least one unless you just want to go there for a sightseeing and not wanted to take those exciting fun-rides that makes them famous to the whole world.

The Sky Terraces and Madame Tussauds are among the popular attractions that you can experience when you go up to the Victoria Peak or "The Peak".

Dragon Hostel is located at 7/F Sincere House, 83 Argyle Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong,
Tel no. +852 9347 4767

Getting to your hotel is very convenient. Take the MTR trains to Mong Kok station, and the take Exit D2 to Argyle St, then walk about 5 minutes to Sincere House, 7/F.

Dragon Hostel is only about 1 minute walk to the famous Ladies Market in Tung Choi Street where is the place to find inexpensive women's clothes, from lingerie to shoes. Men's and kid's clothing, as well as toys and knick-knacks, are also on sale.

Also, it is only 1 minute walk to Fa Yuen street, Locals call it "Sport street", over 50 shoes and sport products stores!

So here's our recommended itinerary for your trip:

Day1 - Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park and shopping at night.

Day2 - The Peak (Star Ferry, Sky Terraces, Madame Tussauds) and when the night come get into the Avenue of Stars also, it is the perfect place to watch the Symphony of Lights.

Day3 - Macau

Here's some other recommendation for Hong Kong and Macau trip.

Thank you for the response.

Is half day Ocean Park (morning) and The Peak plus other attractions (afternoon) advisable? What are the transportation that we need to take?

Half day in Ocean Park is really a tight schedule. I suggest you spend at least 5 hours considering that the park will open at 10:00 am. You may also use the train going to the hill-side of the park (headland) to save time.

Here's the transportation you take in getting to Ocean Park from Dragon Hostel.

Get into the MTR trains at Mong Kok station and take the Tsuen Wan Line trains heading toward Central but you need to get off at Admiralty station, 10 minutes @ HK$9.7. Take Exit B and outside, get on the special CityBus No. 629 for about 15 minutes bus trip @ HK$10.6. It is an express bus travel between Admiralty (west) and Ocean Park (main entrance). You can also buy Ocean Park's admission ticket from there.

Hong Kong Food is Nice!

There is only one thing better than shopping in Hong Kong, and that's eating. From small noodle joints to upscale French restaurant, you will locate all sorts of restaurant, eating hall and snack stall on earth in Hong Kong. Here I found small amount of Hong-Kong-styled snacks online (yummiexpress.freetzi.com). This is definitely a good choice before I have $ for another trip.

ocean park and the peak

Hi, what if we went to the Peak during the morning and to Ocean Park in the afternoon, will that be more plausible? Thanks!

Yes, of course you can visit the Peak during the morning and to Ocean Park in the afternoon.

Opening hours:
* Peak = 8:00am to 11:00pm
* Ocean Park = 10:00pm to 8:00pm

Based on the timetable above, I would always suggest Ocean Park first as it will give you more time flexibility during afternoon to evening activity at Peak. Also, the Peak is excellent at sun down and early evening.

Hi Mel,

Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland actually offers its visitors a whole day activity but if you just wanted to tour around the park then yes, you can do it in 1 day and I suggest this itinerary;

* Ocean park (morning till 2:30pm) --> HK Disneyland (the rest of the day, wait until 8:00pm to watch the fireworks show)

Here's an efficient way to travel in getting to Ocean Park:
Take the MTR Tsuen Wan Line (or Island Line) trains to get you to the Admiralty station and then take Exit B. Upon exit, you'll find the Admiralty (west) Bus Terminus, get on the special CityBus No. 629 an express bus with route between Admiralty and Ocean Park entrance. Bus travel time is about 25 minutes @ HK$10.6.

Getting to HK Disneyland from Ocean Park:
Take the bus CTB 629 back to Admiralty and get into the MTR station. Take the Island Line trains and get off at next station, Central station. Interchange to the Tung Chung Line at the adjacent Hong Kong station and get off at Sunny Bay station. Interchange to the Disneyland Resort Line trains that will bring you straight to Disneyland station. Journey time is 38 minutes @ HK$21.7

From Ocean Park, take the bus 629 to Admiralty station (25 mins @ HK$10.6) and then a short taxi drive to the Peak Tram lower terminal (6 mins @ HK$20).

Take the Peak Tram up to the Peak (@ HK$40 - round trip ticket) where you can visit Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
