My Family of 4 (including 2 young children) will be visiting Hong Kong on 15 July, 2011.

Few questions to ask:

Which transportation options are most cost effective to travel from:
a) HK Airport - Disneyland Hollywood
b) Disneyland Hollywood - Royal Plaza Mong Kok
c) Royal Plaza Mong Kok - Ocean Park
d) Royal Plaza Mong Kok - HK Airport

Which places of attraction should I not miss out during my visit?

What are the admission fee for 2 adults & 2 children to:
a)Ocean Park
b)Disneyland

Disney's Hollywood Hotel Hong Kong is a 4-star hotel together with Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel a 5-star hotel are located at Hong Kong Disneyland, Lantau Island.

Getting from HK airport to HK Disneyland instruction can be read in here.

In your case, taking a taxi is your 1st option of travel but you need to negotiate with the taxi driver if you'll be accommodated in a single taxi.

Getting from Disney's Hollywood hotel to Royal Plaza hotel in Mong Kok instruction is discussed and can be read in here.

Getting from Royal Plaza hotel to HK airport (or vice versa) instruction can be read in here.

Ocean Park general admission tickets:
* Adult = HK$250
* Child (3-11 yrs old) = HK$125
* Under 3 yrs old and Senior over 65 (with HKID) = Free

Hong Kong Disneyland general admission tickets:
* Adult = HK$350
* Child (3-11 yrs old) = HK$250
* Senior over 65 = HK$170

Tickets are valid for one visit on any day except Special Days within 6 months of the ticket issue.

Thank you so much.

I've gathered some info from some friends who recommended that I should take the train to Disneyland as well as to Royal Plaza.

1) Is the trains be pack-jammed with commuters travelling? I'm just concerned about the hassle of pulling 2 luggage with 2 kids and not being able to get into the trains.

2) Another recommendation is to take bus (Route R11) from disneyland to Royal Plaza Hotel. I was also told that it is fast and cost HK$38. Is this recommended?

You can always expect lot of people taking MTR specially during rush hours, and I see the hassle in your case. Actually, you can take the trains but just avoid during rush hours like 7:30am to 9:00am and late afternoon.

Getting to Royal Plaza hotel from Disneyland Resort by bus.

Taking the CityBus CTB R11 from Disneyland Bus Terminus is also a good way to travel to Royal Plaza hotel and ideal for travelling with kids. Bus travel time is about 30 minutes @ HK$38.

Counting Disneyland Bus Terminus as bus stop no.1, you'll need to get off at bus stop no.3 which is located at 26 Lai Chi Kok Road outside Metropark Hotel Mongkok, after Prince Edward Road West and before Portland Street. Upon getting off from the bus, your hotel location is still bit far away approx 13 minutes walk (refer to map below) so it is not ideal specially bringing along with some luggage and with the kids. I suggest you take a short taxi drive to your hotel @ HK$20.

HK fun parks and attractions

Hi Felicia,

You asked in your post about attractions you shouldn't miss, so I wanted to give you my personal recommendation. I read that you travel with your family so for sure the fun parks are an important point. But what I also suggest as activity with children are the beautiful beaches of Hong Kong. Maybe go to South Bay beach, it is not far away from the crowded Repulse Bay. There you can relax in a quiet surrounding, while children are having fun.

Complimentary Shuttle Bus

I searched upon on the internet that there is complimentary shuttle buses to various hotels.

In that case, can I take Airport Express from Disneyland back to the airport (on the 2nd day of my arrival) and transfer to the shuttle service that head straight to the Royal Plaza hotel? Is there a certain criteria that I'd have to meet before boarding?

The Airport Express Shuttle Bus is a complimentary add-on service (free of charge) provided exclusively for Airport Express passengers travelling between Hong Kong or Kowloon station and major hotels and railway interchanges.

There is NO Airport Express Shuttle Bus direct route from Hong Kong airport to any major hotel in the city.

Service routes would be:

* Airport Express train from HKIA --> Kowloon or Hong Kong station --> Airport Express Shuttle Bus from Kowloon or Hong Kong station --> your hotel.

* Airport Express Shuttle Bus from your hotel --> Kowloon or Hong Kong station --> Airport Express train from Kowloon or Hong Kong station --> Hong Kong airport.
