My Family's First Overseas Experience... And We Want It To be A Great Experience!

by Velski

Hi there!

I am from the Philippines and was looking at different sites in the net on how can I make an itinerary or a 6 day stay in hongkong by the end of June. Actually that will be just 4 whole day and the 1st and last day will be our arrival at 6pm and departure at 10am, respectively.

This will be a triple birthday celebration for the 3 of us, me, my hubby and my kid of 8yo.

We want to maximize our time and I want my kid to see and experience of course the Disneyland and Ocean Park. But me and my hubby would also like to visit the NP360 (hopefully the cable car will be open by the time we're there for my kid to experience it, do you have any details on when will they resume the operation of its cable car), The PEak, Avenue of Stars, Shenzhen and Macau. And not to forget among my list, shopping!!!:)

A friends told me that there are 3 shopping streets in Kowloon where you can shop bags, toys, garments at affordable prices but I don't know what that place is called.

Please help us make this trip a memorable one. Thanks! Velle

Hello Velle,

First of all, advance happy birthday to the 3 of you and wishing you a very enjoyable and memorable stay in Hong Kong!

The Nong Ping 360 Cable Car service between Tung Chung and Ngong Ping terminal have been temporarily suspended for 1 month since May 23, 2011 for scheduled maintenance work. So, it should be back in operation on June 23, 2011.

Here's my itinerary suggestion in your 3 days stay in Hong Kong.

Day 1: Hong Kong Disneyland --> Street Market shopping.

The 3 well-known theme street market in Kowloon area are the Ladies' Market, Temple Street Night Market, and Hong Kong Jade Market. Please follow the link above to read more about each of them.

Day 2: Ocean Park --> The Peak --> Avenue of Stars and Symphony of Lights.

Day 3: Ngong Ping 360 --> HK Shopping

Just in case the Ngong Ping Cable Car is still down on that time and you still want to explore Ngong Ping then you may take a taxi (@ about HK$200) or Bus No.23 (48 minutes @ HK$17.2) from Tung Chung Town Centre Bus Terminus (close to Tung Chung MTR station or adjacent to the Citygate Outlets) to Ngong Ping Bus Terminus at Ngong Ping.

Day 4: Shenzhen or Macau. If you only wanted to do shopping in Shenzhen then I would suggest a Macau --> Zhuhai itinerary instead.

If you want to know more about the detailed instruction in getting to those places from your hotel, then let me know where exactly you want to stay in Hong Kong. My recommendation should be somewhere in Kowloon area.
