looking for comfortable (think Hampton inn or Marriott residence inn) easy access to shopping transportation and food and not ghetto (like a dark alley around the corner).

I would prefer to stay at Gongbei area. Close to the Macau border, so that anytime I can easily cross to Macau and then easily get to Hong Kong by ferry.
