Good Day! we are having a layover of 10.5 hrs and we will be arriving at 11:30 AM.

We would like to see places in HK please suggest what is the best route and the best form of transportation as well as the fares.

We would like to see The Peak, Disneyland, Ngong Ping 360 and if still possible the Buddha and then be back to airport in time for our departure which is 10:00 pm

Thank you and hoping for your reply.

Hello jong,

Basically, 10.5 hours is so tight for all the Hong Kong tourist attractions you've mentioned above considering those places are apart from each other. Anyway, here are my personal itinerary suggestions for you to choose based on the places that you wanted to visit;

itinerary #1: HK Airport --> Victoria Peak --> Star Ferry ride to TST --> Avenue of Stars --> Street Markets - Ladies' Market bargain shopping --> back to HK airport

* Getting to the Peak from HK airport:
Take the Airport Express trains from airport all the way to the Hong Kong station (24 minutes @ HK$100 / person). Take a taxi to the Peak Tram Lower Terminal at Garden Road, Central (8 minutes @ HK$25). Take the Peak Tram up to the Victoria Peak (7 minutes breathtaking tram ride @ HK$40 for round trip ticket). You spend stay maybe 3 hours at the Peak.

* Getting to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) promenade from the Peak:
Take the Peak Tram back to the Peak Tram Lower terminal and adjacent to it you'll find the Peak Tram Bus Terminus. Take the Bus 15C that will bring you to the Central Ferry Pier Bus Terminus (10 minutes @ HK$4.2) close to the Star Ferry Pier no.7 and then take the Star Ferry going to Tsim Sha Tsui, 9 minutes @ HK$ 2.50. Take a walk along the TST promenade to visit the Avenue of Stars (free of charge) while taking the relaxing view the Victoria Harbour. You may spend at least an hour here.

* Getting to Ladies' market from Tsim Sha Tsui:
You can take about 10 minutes taxi ride straight to the market or get into the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station nearby and take the Tsuen Wan Line train heading to Tsuen Wan and get off at Mong Kok station Exit E2 (7 minutes @ HK$4.6). Walk about 3 minutes and follow directional signs heading to the market. You can spend the rest of your time in this area and be sure to spare at least two hours in getting back to the airport.

* Getting to HK airport from Ladies' Market:
Please refer to the map below. Take about 3 minutes walk from Ladies' market at Tung Choi St to the CTB A21 bus stop located at 587- 589 Nathan Road before Changsha Street and you need to crossing at the Nathan Rd. Bus travel time is about 51 minutes @ HK$33.

Note: the bold and blue color fonts stands for major tourist attractions, their links are in the bottom of this page. Please follow those links to read more information about it, specially on how to get there.

itinerary #2: HK Airport --> Tung Chung Ngong Ping 360 cable car terminal --> Cable car ride to NP to visit the giant Buddha and the rest of Lantau Island attractions --> Cable car ride back to NP --> Shopping at Citygate Outlets in Tung chung --> back to HK airport.

Take a taxi from HKIA straight to Ngong Ping 360 Tung Chung Cable Car terminal (12 minutes @ HK$45). Take the NP 360 cable car to Ngong Ping (25 minutes stunning cable car ride @ HK$115 for round trip ticket). Spend about 4 hours to explore Ngong Ping and its tourist attractions such us the giant Buddha. Take the cable car back to Tung Chung. Walk about 3 minutes to the Citygate Outlets for shopping and dining and spend the rest of your time here and just spare 30 minutes of your time to go back to the airport, taking a taxi is only about 10 minutes @ HK$35.

itinerary #3: HK Airport --> HK Disneyland (note that this is a major attraction in Hong Kong that offers a full-day activity) --> back to HK airport.

You can spend your whole layover time in Disneyland minus 2 hours budget for transportation.

Hello Thiraviam,

Yes, your Disney visit is very doable with your flight schedule. It is ideal to take a taxi for about 20 mins drive from HK airport straight to Disneyland @ HK$130. But you may budget 2 hrs for the back and forth transportation to give allowance to your departure time.

So hopefully, you'll be at the Disney park at around 2:00pm and you may stay there until 8:00pm.

Hi hk insider don,

Thanks for your swift advise, but I made a mistake in telling my time its 15.10 and not 13.10.

Does your suggestion still suits my schedule.

re: short layover time to HK Disneyland

@ Thiraviam,

Most shows at Disney starts early afternoon, thinking about your time at the park is very limited. Say, you'll arrive at the park at 4:00pm, you only have about 2-3 hours to explore the park though there are still stage shows like "Festival of the Lion King" or "The Golden Mickeys" that you can watch until 6:00pm.

Anyway, the "Disney in the Stars" fireworks show alone is amazing and a very unforgeable experience that you could have in Hong Kong so it still worth it.
