Family Holiday. Need itinerary and hotel accommodation suggestions for Hong Kong and Macau.

by David
(Sydney, Australia)

Hi,

My family plan to have a holiday in Hong Kong and to see Macau from 24 to 30 Sep 2011. 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 17,14,11). We want to go Disneyland, lots of shopping, sightseeing and to visit Macau, total 6 days 5 nights.

Need suggestions on itinerary and accommodation. We like to family friendly hotels with comfortable rooms and in a central location to food, shops, transport, activities etc.

Thanks in advance...

Hello David,

To read about our Hong Kong hotel and hostel recommendation, please click here.

I strongly suggest you stay somewhere in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area. This area is known as the heart of the city, a transportation hub, a lot of good place for dining and shopping, and a number of tourist attractions and museums.

To read about our hostel recommendation in Macau, please click here.

Here's my personal itinerary recommendation for your 6 days HK - Macau trip (please follow the links provided to read more about the attraction details specially the getting there instruction):

Day 1: HK Disneyland (whole day and stay there until 8:00pm to watch the spectacular "Disney in the Stars" fireworks show) --> Street market shopping

Day 2: Ocean Park --> Peak Tram to Victoria Peak (must try) --> Take the open-top bus 15C to Central Ferry Pier --> Take the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui --> walk along the TST promenade to visit the Avenue of Stars and watch the Symphony of Lights nightly show that starts at 8:00pm.

Day 3: Ngong Ping 360 and the rest of Lantau island tourist attractions --> Citygate Outlets at Tung Chung for dining and shopping.

Day 4: Repulse Bay --> Stanley market for another popular street market shopping --> Jumbo Kingdom for dining.

Day 5: Full day in Macau.

You can read more details about this route in this topic discussion - "HONGKONG-MACAU TRIP (first timers) ITINERARY 2011"

Day 6: Visit the most popular shopping malls in TST area.

Most of the places that are mentioned in each day above are situated close to each other so that it can help you maximized your time.

Hope this will help you plan your final HK-Macau itinerary trip.
